Similar to/Compare with:   Red-vented (Yucatan) Woodpecker is smaller
     
Range:   SW US to mid-South America
     
Habitat:   open woods, open areas with patches of trees, near water
     
Other Info/Notes on Photo:   In the Yucatan, the GFW looks similar to the out-of-range Red-bellied.
